A simple carbon dioxide injection system for photosynthetic studies.

A simple carbon dioxide injection system has been developed for the maintenance of CO(2) concentrations in semiclosed cuvette systems suitable for photosynthesis and gaseous pollutant studies. The device injects small volumes of pure carbon dioxide into the cuvette in response to a signal from an infrared gas analyzer.

Carbon dioxide angiography: a simple and safe system of delivery.

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is an established alternate angiographic contrast agent, which can be delivered by pump or hand injection. We describe a simple, safe and inexpensive hand injection system that delivers a known volume of CO2 at atmospheric pressure and prevents contamination with room air.

Fitting photosynthetic carbon dioxide response curves for C(3) leaves.

Photosynthetic responses to carbon dioxide concentration can provide data on a number of important parameters related to leaf physiology. Methods for fitting a model to such data are briefly described. The method will fit the following parameters: V(cmax), J, TPU, R(d) and g(m)[maximum carboxylation rate allowed by ribulose 1.5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco), rate of photosyntheti...

Photosynthetic acclimation to rising atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration.

With rising level of CO2 in the atmosphere plants are expected to be exposed to higher concentration of CO2. Since, CO2 is a substrate limiting photosynthesis particularly in C3 plants in the present atmosphere, the impact of elevated CO2 would depend mainly on how photosynthesis acclimates or adjusts to the long term elevated level of CO2. Photosynthetic acclimation is a change in photosynthet...

Photosynthetic path of carbon dioxide in spinach and corn leaves.

The primary route of COn incorporation in C-4 plants (corn) has been formulated to be fi-carboxylation catalyzed by phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase, while in C-3 plants (spinach) COZ enters the carboxyl carbon of glycerate 3-phosphate after reacting with ribulose 1,5-diphosphate. Detached leaf tissues of spinach and corn were compared with respect to their fixation of CO* in the dark or in the ...
